Organization:
Rashid Hussain Berhad (RHB), Malaysia
What they wanted:
RHB is a large, diversified financial services corporation based in Kuala Lumpur financed a review of the corporatization of the Malaysian General Hospitals in concert with the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Ministers office, in close liaison with the Ministry of Health.
What we did:

NHG, specifically Marc Voyvodich and Tom Baiocchi, coordinated a team of U.S. and Malaysian experts representing the following disciplines: Health policy; Health service planning & operations; Facilities planning; Health care finance & economics; Health insurance & benefit design; and Accounting, law and human resources.

The Issues were redefining Malaysias health care financing system from a traditional budgetary allocation from the Ministry of Health via the governments general fund to a system of privately sponsored, competing health plans drawing on employer, employee, governmental and private funding sources.
